COMIAC

Agenda Item: Reviving The Islamic Culture Against Cultural Degeneration

COMIAC was established according to resolution 13/3 – P (IS) adopted by the Third Islamic Summit Conference, held in Makkah Al-Mukaramah and Taif Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in January 1981.

The establishment of COMIAC was a result of the OIC’s intention to give the Islamic Ummah’s information and culture a fresh beginning to acquaint international public opinion with the Islamic Ummah’s noble issues, particularly the question of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif. COMIAC is also meant to counteract biased anti-Islam and anti-Muslim propaganda. The Standing Committee on Information and Cultural Affairs’ responsibilities include monitoring the implementation of the OIC resolutions, looking for ways to promote cooperation between the Member States in the areas of information and communication, and developing programs and proposals to enhance states’ capabilities in these aspects.

Note: Official language of this committee is Arabic.
