Agenda Item: Promoting Science and Technology Cooperation Between OIC Member States

COMSTECH, the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was officially established during the Third Islamic Summit of the OIC, held in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, in January 1981. The President of Pakistan holds the position of Chairman of COMSTECH. COMSTECH’s central mission revolves around strengthening collaboration among OIC Member States in the realm of science and technology (S&T). It aims to bolster their capabilities through specialized training in emerging fields, oversee the implementation of OIC resolutions, and formulate programs and proposals aimed at advancing the scientific and technological prowess of Muslim nations. Ultimately, the goal is to foster a culture of science and technology and harness S&T as a pivotal driver of socioeconomic progress and rapid industrialization.
